A Student’s Poem in Creative Writing

Along with the mandatory classes in the high school, there are unique classes that are offered to the students to advance their learning in ways that are not repetitive. One class that is offered is the Creative Writing course taught by Mrs. Bittner. This is a class that is full of different genres of writing and pure imagination. This class doesn’t have a final exam creating less stress on the students with all of the other exams they have to take. Instead of an exam, the students must create a book of memoirs composed of prose pieces and poetry. On the day of the exam, instead of sitting down for another elongated exam, the students must share two pieces to the class that are in their memoir book. There are various units including a choice unit where people get to choose between a screenplay, video game script, children’s story, play, or a comic book. This class is full of endless possibilities and “allows students to explore techniques authors use to reach audiences,” stated Mrs. Bittner. Everything created in this class may not be perfect, but there are always areas to improve upon.
