Do you have a passion for history? Are you fascinated by  military warfare? If so,  then you should consider taking the new history course being offered at MHS next year. This course focuses on critical battles and conflicts that have changed the course of history.  In order to get a balanced understanding of outcomes, social, political, and economic conditions will be examined in the period leading up to the conflict as well as immediately after the conflict.  Strategy, tactics, leadership, and changes in technology and their influence on warfare will also be examined.  This is a challenging and demanding course and is designed for the history enthusiast who wants to better understand the world we live in today.  This class can also be taken for transcripted credit through UW-Oshkosh at a discounted rate.  Students choosing that option will be required to meet and adhere to the standards and criteria established by the university for a college level class.  Additionally, guest speakers will be brought in to give perspective on various topics.  This class may also include a field trip.  A variety of group projects, partner work  and independent study will be required for successful completion of this course.  Some of the topics that will be covered include, War Theory, Strategy and Tactics, Science of War Technology: Industrialization of War, Global Expansion and Empire Building, The Great War, World War II – Europe and the Pacific, The Changing Nature of War since 1945: The Role of Nuclear Weapons, Conventional Warfare: Korea and the Middle East, Vietnam, Cold War Tactics – Misinformation and Espionage, and Post Modern Warfare: The War on Terrorism.  This class can be taken in either a student’s junior or senior year.
