Spread the Word to End the Word

Hello!

My name is Ryleigh Provencher, and I am the president of Best Buddies at Muskego High School. For those of you who don’t know, Best Buddies is an organization that pairs students with intellectual or developmental disabilities in one-on-one friendships with students without disabilities. We promote inclusion and equal opportunities within our school.

On March 2nd, our school participates in Spread the Word to End the Word Day. This day is meant to bring awareness to the harmful effects of the word “retard.” Pledging to stop using the R-word is an ongoing effort by all Best Buddies’ chapters worldwide. The main purpose of this day is to engage the school by promising to stop using the R-word and encouraging acceptance for all.

To raise awareness and help funding for future events, we are selling awesome Spread the Word to End the Word t-shirts to any staff members who wish to participate. With the colors being red and white, they are perfect for Muskego! These shirts will be pre-order only. The shirts are just $10 and our chapter keeps $3 from every shirt we sell! This will help us fund programs and events for our members. Just think, YOU could be the reason we have a wonderful event while also supporting a great cause! If you are interested in buying a shirt we provide the following adult sizes: S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X. The shirt also includes “Muskego” written on the back. Any orders should be sent to Ryleigh Provencher (19provencherry@ muskegonorwayschools.org). Please place your money (cash or check written to “Muskego High School”) in an envelope with your name, school, and t-shirt size on the front and send it to Margaret Pyne via intra-office mail by NEXT WEDNESDAY, January 25th.  Please feel free to tell your students, family, or friends about these awesome t-shirts! Check it out here: Disable the Label.

Please indicate your school building on your order so we know where to deliver your shirt! In addition to this year’s t-shirt, we still have some from last year. We have adult small, medium, and large sizes. With these t-shirts, 100% of the profit goes to our chapter! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to help our chapter out. If you are interested in purchasing one of last year’s shirts, please contact Ryleigh Provencher (19provencherry@ muskegonorwayschools.org) with your name, school, and t-shirt size! Money will be sent to Margaret Pyne, with the same instructions that apply to this year’s t-shirt.

There are two options: The red and white shirts are this year’s shirt and you have the option of black from last year.

Thank you for your support,
Ryleigh Provencher
