Muskego High School Charity Week

The week of March 27th was charity week! Teachers around the school have made it clear which team they’re on — Team Dunbar or Team Irvine — as they went head to head in the competition of who could raise the most money. The week benefited a slew of different charities including: Feeding America, Soldiers’ Angels, The American Heart Association and the Gdaniec Family. Charity week was not only a great way to bring the school together, but also a wonderful opportunity to help out those in need. Feeding America helps to put food on the table for those that can’t always afford it. There are over two hundred Feeding America food banks across the US to help the thirteen million children that struggle with hunger. Soldiers’ Angels aids and provides care to the families of soldiers and veterans by sending care packages and raising money and food to send to the families. They also send letters and packages to soldiers in combat. The American Heart Association focuses on helping those with cardiac problems and trying to reduce disability and death from cardiac diseases. They are a nonprofit organization that’s been around since 1924.

Natalee Gdaniec is a junior in our school with a rare form of cancer. Who doesn’t want to try helping their fellow Warrior out? Everyone is rooting for Natalee and donating to charity week was just one more way to show our support. Natalee said “ I think it’s really amazing how much support Muskego has shown me. I didn’t expect to have charity days for my family and I but I am so grateful.” The money donated to her family goes to helping pay for treatments. Charity week was led by Ms. Czernicki, Mrs. Edwards, Mr. Adamson, Mr. Fortmann, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Troeller, Mr. Michaud, Mr. Passler, Mr. Beckman and Mrs. Michels. Many students donated each day, including Elise Prange, a junior. “Both my grandparents were in the military and I have some cousin in the military so I figured Soldiers’ Angels is a good cause to donate to,” Elise said. Charity week was a great way to show support for those in need, and it was a great way to bring our school closer together through a healthy competition.
